Geodynamics Liberation Front

The Geodynamics Liberation Front is an outreach organization that exposes students and the general public to scientific concepts, using the Earth and Earth processes as a tool to teach science, technology, engineering, arts and math.

Most of what we make is small and open: a web page that answers one question well, a printable thing for a classroom, a program you can read. Every project lives in a public repository, and this site is rebuilt from the latest version of each one.

Latest projects

• Topographic Pleasures Every US state drawn the way Joy Division's Unknown Pleasures cover drew a pulsar: one line per latitude, lifted by the land beneath it.
• Across the Ocean Stand on any shore, look straight out to sea, and find the first coast you would reach. A great-circle answer, not a line-of-latitude one.
• Frequency Generator Build a sound from sine waves, watch them add up on screen, and hear them cancel. Interference you can listen to.
